| 3pm Sat 21 September in Parkville Brunswick | Guest Speaker: Dr Muhammad Kamal | Bookings essential | Donations accepted |

At the end of the 8th century, while Western Europe remained struggling in decline, scholarship was revived in Bagdad, where the great translation project got underway. But how did this work? How should we imagine the House of Wisdom operating? And who had the skills to translate? Dr Kamal (UniMelb) will introduce the discussion with attention to the involvement of foreign scholars, including Christian scholars, brought in to preserve and transmit the great works of ancient Greece.

Past and present students, their family and friends, are all welcome. Bookings Essential [BOOKINGS CLOSED]
